CU Maurice River is leading a trash pickup in partnership with The Authority's 33rd Annual Waterways Cleanup on September 27. This event is part of the Cumberland County Clean Communities Program. It is being held in conjunction with the annual Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), hosted in New Jersey by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council. Through the ICC, volunteers worldwide will remove litter and debris from lakes, streams, rivers, bays, and beaches.
Trash-collecting efforts will be focused at Alliance Beach along the upper Maurice River. Join us as a CU Litter Obliterator to help keep plastics and other debris from entering our waterways and harming the remarkable flora and fauna we enjoy. In past years we have been able to remove bicycles, tires, shopping carts, and dozens of bags of trash from our beloved natural areas.
Trash cleanup bags and gloves will be provided. There are a limited number of litter pickers to lend out so please bring one if you have it. Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.
