Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Cumberland County Winter Eagle Festival / 2-1-25
A. MAURICETOWN FIREHALL
Come to the Mauricetown Firehall between 8 am and 4: pm to celebrate the successful recovery of America's symbol, the bald eagle, and the partners that made this feat possible. There you can check out the vendors' booths, enjoy a bite to eat, see Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge's live raptors, create with Clay College, learn more about Bayshore birds from knowledgeable speakers, or simply warm up and socialize. Hot drinks and food will be available for purchase, prepared by Mauricetown Fire Company volunteers. Your attendance at the Mauricetown Firehall makes all the difference for this event.
B. GUIDED WALK SCHEDULE
The guided walk schedule for this year begins at sunrise with a meander on Turkey Point Road and ends with an Owl Watch at twilight. Each outing listed below will connect visitors to wild natural spaces in Cumberland County. For each walk, meet at the location and time mentioned below. Click the blue hyperlink for the Google Map link. There is no official registration required to attend - simply dress for the weather and show up with your binoculars and/or camera in hand.
7:00 a.m. - Sunrise Walk on Turkey Point Road with CUMR's World Series of Birding Fish Hawk team members, including Mary Watkins, Tony Klock, and other CUMR volunteers. The group will meet by the observation tower at the end of Turkey Point Road.
9:00 a.m. - Hansey Creek Rd. Walk with CUMR Board President Jane Morton Galetto. If tides allow, park at the Hansey Creek boat launch at the end of Hansey Creek Rd.
11:00 a.m. - Eagle Trail Walk led by Natural Land's Zac Bohm, Dustin Welch, and Brian Johnson. Walk begins at Eagle Trail trailhead within the Glades' Wildlife Refuge. See this map of the Glades Refuge.
1:30 p.m. - Bayshore Center at Bivalve Wetlands Walk with Tony Klock and Dr. Kathy Michel of CUMR's World Series of Birding Team.
3:00 p.m. - Manumuskin River Preserve walk led by NJ Audubon's Adehl Schwaderer and CU Maurice River's Kimberly Spiegel. Meet at the railroad tracks on Port-Elizabeth Cumberland Rd./646 (2 miles off Rt 47).
5:00 p.m. - Owl Watch on Turkey Point Road with Mary Watkins, Tony Klock, and other naturalists ends the day's walk schedule at dusk. The group will meet by the observation tower at the end of Turkey Point Road.

There will be five staffed observation stations during the festival. Naturalists and volunteers will begin manning these posts at 10:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. Note that the Bayshore Center Observation Station will end at 1:00 p.m.
