Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Family Friendly Friday: Frog Slog / 5-23-25
Join CU Maurice River for the Frog Slog, an evening of discovery and experiential learning! CU Naturalist and retired educator Tony Klock and Americorps Watershed Ambassador David Ferrara will be on hand to guide you through this fun outdoor adventure.
Spend the evening searching for frogs, identifying their breeding calls, and learning about the fascinating macroinvertebrates that inhabit the vernal pools of southern New Jersey. It’s a hands-on opportunity to explore the wonders of nature and gain a deeper understanding of these unique ecosystems.
Participants will learn about local species, their life cycles, and their habitats, with the opportunity to catch and safely release frogs as part of the identification process. This experience is not just about learning—it’s also about getting kids and families outdoors, connecting with the environment, and instilling a sense of wonder about the world around us.
Be ready to slog through water and sometimes mud—this hands-on experience is all about getting immersed in nature while learning something new. Bring your sense of adventure and prepare to get messy in the process!
This is a night excursion in wet areas so please come prepared for messiness! Waterproof boots, a change of clothes, and a headlamp are recommended. For some, bedtime will need to be postponed, but this event is well worth staying up late. Bring water for hydration and a snack for little ones who get hungry quickly. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.Date and Time
