Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River-Tuesdays On The Fly: Forest Restoration / 10-7-25
Join NJDEP and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service for an in-depth look at the Allen and Oswego Road Fire Mitigation and Habitat Restoration Project in Bass River State Forest. This important initiative is improving forest health and reducing wildfire risk through selective thinning, habitat restoration, and the creation of strategic firebreaks. These efforts help protect nearby communities while supporting the long-term resilience of southern New Jersey’s forest ecosystems.
This landscape-level stewardship reflects a broader conservation ethic that values biodiversity, clean water, and habitat connectivity. Much like the protected corridor along the nearby Wild and Scenic Maurice River, these forests play a vital role in sustaining rare species, supporting migratory birds, and preserving the natural heritage of the region.
This tour will take place outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Use of sunscreen and insect repellent is recommended.Date and Time
