This introductory course 40-hour class is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge of ASL. This course teaches basic conversation, grammar, and vocabulary. The focus is on expressive and receptive American Sign Language, fingerspelling, and the culture of the Deaf community.
This free course is available through a partnership between the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Attendees must be employed by a registered New Jersey business. Public and State employees are not eligible for this grant-funded training, but there are other options available. Participants who complete the entire duration of their classes will receive a professional development certificate of completion.
