Job summary
The main objective of this position is to: - Operate and monitor the VMI (computer), divider, RT, proofer, scoring station, oven, cooling tower and blast freezer to ensure maximum efficiency and low wastes.
Tasks and responsibilities
For all the tasks under your responsibility, insure their conformity in order to insure quality of the products and food safety. Advise QA Department of all deviances.- Ensure that production takes place in accordance with company policies, procedures and customer specifications
- Promote continuous improvement of the equipment and process to meet or exceed company objectives, goals, and customer specifications
- Review daily schedule and upcoming job changes
- Report at shift start to review problems, concerns, etc. with on duty operator
- Check running production for correct recipe according to the set up sheet. Make change overs to new production in accordance with set up sheet for the new jobs
- Verify the integrity of the raw materials coming into production
- Checks salt, improver, yeast, canola oil, and other ingredients as required
- Make random inspections of product to verify conformance to specifications
- Monitor machine speeds
- Perform integrity checks of the production line at least three times per shift
- Monitor the scoring blades at the scoring station every hour as part of HACCP plan
- Mix batch ingredients according to the SO document
- Report mechanical problems to the shift supervisor and/or Maintenance mechanic on duty
- Report line downtime as it occurs
- Follow all safety rules, company policies, and GMPs
- Complete all production and quality documents related to each production job
- Keep area clean and sweep as necessary
- Cover for other operators when needed
- Train new employees on the line, including assistant operator
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
General knowledge & Other Requirement - Read, write, and count
- Traverse stairs, ladders, and lifts to reach different areas of machines
- Transport/move equipment and supplies as needed, up to 40 pounds
- Be detailed oriented
- Exposure to noise and a cold environment
- Exposure to work in an environment with flour.
- Follow all safety, health, environmental and company rules
- Understand and follow all GMP’s
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, although none required
Work experience:
- At least 3 years’ experience in food manufacturing.
- At least 3 years’ experience as an operator in baking industry.
Work conditions:
- Location: Vineland
- Work schedule: Weekdays, weeknights and/or weekends
- Work hours: 1st, 2sd or 3rd shift
